BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Image - James K. Wright Colonel James K. Wright is the Chief, Hyperbaric Medicine Research at the Davis Hyperbaric Laboratory, Brooks Air Force Base, TX. He received his BA in Biology and MD from the University of Chicago where he also completed his residency in general surgery. He did a burn fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and completed a plastic surgery residency at UCLA. Dr. Wright entered the Air Force in 1982 when he was assigned as the plastic surgeon at Clark Air Base, Republic of the Philippines. He was assigned to Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in 1985 where he served as chief of plastic surgery. He left the Air Force to enter private practice in Midwest City, OK in 1989 and subsequently entered the Air Force Reserve. After serving as plastic surgeon for Tinker AFB, OK, Dr. Wright attended the Aerospace Medicine Primary Course, Col. Wright re-entered active duty service and was assigned as chief of flight medicine at Tinker AFB, OK. He has deployed in support of contingency operations to El Salvador, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. He was assigned to the Davis hyperbaric Laboratory at Brooks AFB, TX in June 1999 and completed his fellowship in June 2000. Dr. Wright is board certified in general surgery, plastic surgery, and holds a certificate of added qualifications in hand surgery. He is the author or co-author of 11 publications.
